Jack Daniel’s has a long history of resilience, and few releases capture that better than this double bottle anniversary set. Created to commemorate both the 70th anniversary of the reopening of the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee (1938) and the 75th anniversary of the repeal of national Prohibition (1933), this collector’s edition celebrates milestones that shaped the brand’s survival and growth.

The two bottles are housed in a striking double box, complete with historical references, inserts, and commemorative label designs. Each bottle highlights a different anniversary, making the set a true piece of whiskey history.

Where did I get this release?

I picked up this release in a collection acquired in 2024.

From the back of the commemorative box:

“This year celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Repeal of National Prohibition and the 70th anniversary of the reopening of the Jack Daniel Distillery. In honor of these dates, we’re pleased to release these special bottles which symbolize important events in the history of Jack Daniel’s.
National Repeal in 1933 didn’t change much in the Hollow. Tennessee law still prohibited the distillation and consumption of spirits for another 5 yeras. To get the distillery up and running again, Mr. Jack’s nephew, Lem Motlow, had to do the unthinable - he became a politician. Lem won a seat in the STate House and worked to change laws in Tennessee so he could reopen the Jack Daniel Distillery.
Finally, in November of 1938, the Jack Daniel Distillery reopened its doors. Lem went back to making our whiskey the way his Uncle Jack made it and the way we still do it today – mellowing it drop by drop through 10 feet of hard sugar maple charcoal with the same care, craft and quality that go into every drop of our Tennessee Whiskey. So whether you’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of the National RRepeal or the 70th anniversary of the reopening of the Jack Daniel Distillery, we hope you’ll raise a glass with us. We ask that you celebrate the moment responsibly. Special Limited Edition

From the insert – Celebrating 70 Years Since Jack Came Back:

When Tennessee Prohibition closed the doors to the Jack Daniel Distillery in 1910 (10 years before National Prohibition was enacted), folks in Lynchburg thought that was the end of the distillery. They were wrong. Twenty-eight years later (5 years beyond the repeal of National Prohibition), the Jack Daniel Distillery returned to making whiskey the way Mr. Jack Did, mellowing it drop by drop through 10 feet of hard sugar maple charcoal. Now, 70 years later, we though we’d honor the reopning of the distillery in 1938 with something we still make in a dry county. Although Tennessee law permitted the distillery to reumse operation, Moore COunty remained dry. Here’s to the repeal of prohibition and the reopening of the Jcak Daniel Distillery. With the freedom to enjoy our whiskey, we ask that you do so responsibly. To learn more about our history come visit us in Lyunchburg or at www.jackdaniels.com.

From the insert – The First Step Back:

We’re celebrating the 75th anniversary of the 21st Amendment, the repeal of Prohibition. When Prohibition was repealed nationally in 1933, the Jack Daniel Distillery still couldn’t start back to making whiskey. Our home state of Tennessee remained dry for another long five years. Of course, that doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty of reason to celebrate this 75th anniversary. If not for the national repeal back in 1933, Mr. Jack’s distillery wouldn’t be up and running today. We think that fact alonse is worth raising a glass. With the freedom to enjoy our whiskey, we ask that you do so responsibly.
